An Abused Baby Was Locked In A Cage For A Year, But What The Nurses Do? Amazing

Budi the orangutan was confined to a chicken cage for the first year of his life, slowly dying of neglect and starvation. Because he had only been fed condensed milk through the bars of his cage, his body was bloated from malnutrition and his limbs were swollen and deformed. When rescuers found him, he was too frail to move and cried out in pain when touched. Luckily these two caring veterinarians, Karmele and Jaclyn, took Budi under their wings and showed him the love and respect that every creature deserves. The most heartbreaking part of this video are his cries of anguish when being moved, as well as the soothing apologies the vets whisper as they gently feed and weigh him.

According to the International Animal Rescue website, Budi was being kept as a pet in Kubing in Ketapang, Indonesia and his owner willingly handed him over in December of last year after realizing how sick he had become. When they asked her how Budi had become so severely malnourished, the rescuers were told that “she was afraid to give Budi any fruits and thought that giving condensed milk would be sufficient.” Because of this shocking oversight, he lacked the protein necessary for healthy development. The website reports that Budi is making progress, even sitting up unassisted for short periods of time, but they state that it is too early to tell whether the little orangutan’s condition is irreversible.

Watch these skillful veterinarians as they tenderly care for little Budi, and be sure to share your thoughts with us in the comments section. We can only hope that he recovers and grows into a healthy orangutan.
