This man was on his boat in the Sea Of Cortez, when he noticed a seemingly lifeless whale floating beside him. What happened when he got closer left everyone here at SFG speechless.

This footage started out as a heartbreaking tale of a man discovering a majestic sea creature on the verge of death. Luckily, with his quick thinking, this brave man was able to rectify the situation before it became lethal.

After watching this incredible footage, however, we couldn’t help but wonder how many other animals must suffer fates like this. Animals that aren’t fortunate enough to have a helpful human nearby to save them.

According to Us.Whales.org, “More than 300,000 whales, dolphins and porpoises die every year as a result of being caught in fishing gear and nets.” This depressing statistic is alarming to any activist or animal lover to discover.

Experts refer to these types of instances as, “bycatch.” What is that? Well, in other words it’s, “…the single biggest killer of whales, dolphins and porpoises in all the oceans across the globe. It also causes horrific injuries.”

If we don’t do something about these harmful nets, the annual bycatch rates will only continue to increase.

We here at SFG loving heroic videos like this, but how did you feel about it? Please share your thoughts and feelings with us in the comment section below.
