Legendary singer, Sir Tom Jones is one of the most popular vocalists in the world and his successful career has spanned almost four decades. The Welsh native is an icon in the United Kingdom and is responsible for hits such as “It’s Not Unusual”, “What’s New Pussycat” and “Delilah” among others. In addition to the numerous awards he’s won, including a 1966 Grammy, Jones was even knighted in 2006 by Queen Elizabeth II for his “services to music.”
That being said, it can be a daunting task to perform in front of the musical royalty like Jones, let alone convince him to be your vocal coach. Yet that’s what The Voice UK contestant Matt Henry did during a blind audition in 2013. His rousing cover of Ray Lamontagne’s “Trouble,” was so soulful that it even got Tom Jones to utter a few lyrics in unison with him, eventually getting him to turn his chair at the end.
