In a lion pride, females are responsible for both rearing the cubs and for hunting. A pride of lionesses usually contains related daughters, sisters, and mothers. It’s all about the family. Many of the lionesses also end up giving birth at the same time. They are a close-knit bunch to the point where a cub may nurse with its mother, as well as other females in the pride.
In a pride, the main role of the male lion is to protect his territory. So, the female may be the hunter, but the male eats before the lionesses eat. Perhaps this is necessary so the male can stay strong and big to protect his family. Very rarely will you see a lioness without her pride. Seeing this lost lioness was heartbreaking until you see the magical ending.
